The Directory of Building Research Institutes and the Catalogues of Research work done in the country and abroad brought out through the painstaking efforts of the different development agencies are in much demand now.  Due to the changing patterns in land use, one design pattern followed in a particular area in Cochin is not at all useful in another area with a different topography.

The apartments built according to ISO standards cost much more than those built according to the BIS rules and regulations.  Thus some of the luxury apartments in Cochin built according to ISO regulations now cost more than one crore rupees.  Perhaps you can never see such a development in any other part of Kerala.  Following ISO standards may even force the builder to import high quality furnishing materials and other accessories to meet the global standards.  Thus, the final price of a luxury apartment, villa or flat will always be on the higher side.  Nevertheless, the leading businesspersons and the expatriates do not mind paying higher amount of money to own world-class luxuries.
